In Three Legged Cross Brownies unit, we are a friendly unit based in West Moors Guide Hall. The girls come from lots of different schools around the Three Legged Cross area, including West Moors, Ferndown, Verwood and Colehill, so they love to chat as it is the only time they see each other! We are a relaxed and hands-on unit.
Each term we ask the girls what they would like to do, so the termly programme is based on their ideas and what they would like to do to have fun and learn.
We get involved in activities in the Division (meeting all units in Ferndown, Longham, St Leonards, Verwood and Alderholt). Every Easter we have an egg rolling competition which always a hotly anticipated event; the winning Brownie keeps the trophy for the year.
We have recently completed our first aid badge having fun learning about how to help others in an emergency, been canoeing and river dipping, designed our own fashions, celebrated festivals from other countries and cooked delicious things to take home. Woofability visited us with a very clever dog as part of our disability awareness badge. The older girls have learnt how to build fires but everyone got to toast marshmallows and make s’mores, they were scrummy.
Over the next couple of terms, we are going to continue to try lots of new things and go to Blashford Lakes, crabbing and to Butchers Coppice to have some fun outdoors. We are also completing some challenge badges and have visits planned to Brownsea Island and in October half term some of us are going to France.
